Freddy Peralta Joins the Mets
Freddy Peralta is set for some adjustments on the mound after being traded to the Mets late Wednesday night. This new chapter means he’s likely to experience more game time, especially at Citi Field, compared to his previous eight seasons in the majors.
The right-handed pitcher was moved from the Brewers to the Mets, with Tobias Meyers heading to Milwaukee in return for Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams. It’s an interesting shift for Peralta, as he hasn’t pitched at Citi Field much, managing only two appearances there in his career.
In those two outings, he boasts a solid 2-0 record with a 2.25 ERA and 14 strikeouts. His first outing came back on March 29, 2024, where he delivered six innings and allowed just a single run, contributing to a win for Milwaukee. His second start was on July 2, 2025, against the Mets, resulting in another victory.
Now, moving to the Mets will mean Peralta faces the National League East teams more frequently. Interestingly, he’s no stranger to the area, having faced off against the Braves, Marlins, Nationals, and Phillies 36 times over his career. He has five wins in eight starts against the Braves, although he holds a 4.26 ERA against the Mets.
Against the Phillies, Peralta has a respectable 3.12 ERA, which is his best against any NL East team, though he has yet to secure a win, going 0-2 in seven starts. His record with the Marlins stands at 3-4 with a 4.03 ERA and 58 strikeouts, while he carries a 5.82 ERA with 41 strikeouts against the Nationals.
This trade marks a busy period for the Mets, who recently also signed Bo Bichette and traded for Luis Robert Jr. Owner Steve Cohen expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s been a great week. Let’s go Mets!”
