On HBO’s “Real Time” broadcast Friday, host Bill Maher said many of the protesters on campus don’t know what they’re talking about and that “a lot of the problems” are with Harvard. He said schools were teaching ridiculous classes, such as the one about Taylor Swift.
Former CNN host Don Lemon said “some” of the protesters are bigots and “many of them get their news from TikTok, so they don’t have the information they need…and… “We don’t have the history of what’s going on.” upon. “
Lemon added, “But some of the kids there, many of them Jewish kids. …When you talk to them, there’s an age difference…Younger people are in the war against Gaza and Israel. I believe in a certain way, a certain thing about what’s going on. I don’t know what the disconnect is. It’s interesting for older people, especially older Jews and younger Jews, to sit down and figure it out. But for me, it’s very interesting that there’s such an age difference.”
Maher said, “Well, Harvard teaches the course. I read the Taylor Swift article this week. I think a lot of the problem is that there’s an actual course.”
Ma also said students were getting crazy ideas from their professors and that “kids don’t seem to know exactly what they’re protesting for.” He said the timing of the protests around final exams was a bit strange.
