Partial Verdict in Shaun “Diddy” Combs Trials

A partial verdict has been delivered in the assault and sex trafficking trials of music and fashion figure Shaun “Diddy” Combs.

On Tuesday evening, the jury informed Judge Arun Subramanian that they had reached verdicts on counts 2, 3, 4, and 5, but they were unable to come to a decision on count 1, citing differing opinions among jurors.

Here’s a breakdown of the five counts Combs faces:

  • Count 1: Conspiracy (potential life sentence)
  • Count 2: Sex trafficking through force or fraud (minimum 15 years to life)
  • Count 3: Transportation for prostitution (up to 10 years)
  • Count 4: Sex trafficking through force or fraud (minimum 15 years to life)
  • Count 5: Transportation for prostitution (up to 10 years)

The jury couldn’t make a decision on count 1 during Tuesday’s deliberations. After a request for further discussion, Judge Subramanian instructed them to resume the following day, but only when all jurors could be present.

The jurors, consisting of eight men and four women, have listened to testimony from 34 witnesses over the past seven weeks. Deliberations began on Monday, following a series of dramatic moments, with jurors sending notes to the judge asking for more clarification on specific charges and witness testimonies.

Notably, dramatic evidence came from Combs’ former girlfriend, who described being drawn into drug-fueled sexual encounters referred to as “freak-offs” and the impact of Combs’ alleged violence. Testimonies also shed light on a sex worker known as “the punisher.”

All testimonies were presented by the prosecution. Combs opted not to testify, which is fairly common among criminal defendants, and his defense team chose not to call any witnesses. Instead, they focused on challenging the prosecution’s case through cross-examination.
