Ashley Biden Reflects on Challenging Summer

Ashley Biden, the daughter of former President Joe Biden, recently described the last few weeks as perhaps “one of the most intense summers of my life.” This reflection comes during a difficult period marked by her divorce and her father’s health struggles with cancer.

She took to Instagram on Tuesday, sharing uplifting thoughts with her 26,000 followers, expressing gratitude for her family and highlighting her journey toward “strength and love for herself.” It seems she’s grappling with these challenges while trying to stay hopeful.

“August 2025,” she wrote. “The summer of 2025 was one of the most difficult summers of my life.”

“I’m getting ready for autumn, which is my favorite season,” she added. “Now, I’m prepared for what lies ahead.” Ashley expressed appreciation for her support network, noting the importance of taking time to process her feelings and heal.

She concluded her message with a note of hope: “I’m thankful for peace in my heart, for new beginnings, and for rediscovering love for myself.”

Her post featured a mix of personal photos, including moments with friends, family, and her father. Recently, she has often shared images of Joe, remarking, “Chicken soup for my soul. I’m thankful for our walks and stories. 🥇 Dad!”

This comes just weeks after Ashley filed for divorce from her husband, Dr. Howard Kellin, after more than 13 years of marriage.

Though she hasn’t made a formal statement about the end of their marriage, she mentioned on social media, “A new life, a new beginning means a new boundary. A fresh perspective on how I love and relate.”

Not too long before announcing her divorce, Ashley shared a post that appeared to show her husband with another woman. “My husband and his girlfriend are holding hands,” she noted in her Instagram story.

The couple married in June 2012 in Greenville, Delaware, just a couple of years after Beau Biden, Joe’s late son, was born.

Ashley’s recent public farewell has coincided with other family challenges, particularly concerning her father’s prostate cancer diagnosis, which he revealed back in May.

Joe Biden, now 82, shared that he was diagnosed with “aggressive” Stage 4 prostate cancer.

A statement from May 18 noted that he was experiencing an increase in urinary symptoms and was later diagnosed with the cancer characterized by high Gleason scores indicating significant concern.

Despite the aggressive nature of the disease, it was said to be hormone-sensitive, which may allow for effective treatment. The president and his family are exploring their options with medical professionals.
