Disney to build park in Abu Dhabi

Disney revealed on Wednesday that it will open its seventh theme park resort in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with Miral, an entertainment company from the UAE.

While no opening date has been specified, the Walt Disney Company stated that Miral will lead the development of a waterfront park on Yas Island, a site well-known for attracting tourists. Disney’s creative team will oversee both the design and operations of the park.

“Disneyland Abu Dhabi embodies the true Disney essence, infused with Emirati culture. This unique Disney oasis at a global crossroads will present our beloved characters and stories in fresh, exciting ways, offering joy and inspiration to countless families for generations,” the announcement said.

The new park will seamlessly combine modern architecture with advanced technology, creating a deeply immersive entertainment experience for visitors.

Moreover, this addition will enhance the UAE’s array of entertainment partnerships, which already include Rube, Formula 1 Racing, SeaWorld, and Warner Bros., all of which are core attractions in Abu Dhabi.

Miral Chair Mohamed Khalifa al-Mubarak emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “The partnership between Abu Dhabi and Disney illustrates the powerful results of visionary leadership paired with creative brilliance.” He also noted that Abu Dhabi aims to remain a preferred global destination through unique attractions.

The details of the deal were included in Disney’s quarterly investor filing on Wednesday. Although Disney isn’t funding the project, it will receive royalties and service fees based on the park’s performance.

The park is anticipated to feature themed accommodations along with dining and retail options.

This announcement coincides with President Trump’s upcoming visit to the Middle East, which includes a stop in the UAE as efforts continue to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
