A young black bear jumped from a tree and entered a suburban Pennsylvania neighborhood on Tuesday before landing on a giant tarp held up by a group of wildlife protection, public safety and rescue officials, who tranquilized the bear.
The bear was spotted around midday in a residential area of Camp Hill, on the outskirts of the capital city of Harrisburg, after students and staff at a nearby high school were told to stay indoors and some roads were closed. Pennlive.com reported.
Fire and rescue teams used a ladder truck to reach the bear and tranquilize it, which then fell about 20 feet (6 meters) into a large blue tarp being held up by several wildlife, police and firefighters. The bear was tranquilized again and placed in a bear trap mounted on a trailer, news outlets reported.
The report said the bear does not appear to be fully grown yet and that game officials will likely take it to other state land in central Pennsylvania. The Associated Press left a message with the game commission seeking more information.
