A year after the Twitter Files, Big Tech commissars still loom large

I recently came across an old Soviet propaganda poster. Vladimir Lenin stands in front of the huge red emblem of the Soviet Union. His right arm is extended forward with the caption: “Towards a bright future for communist societies, universal prosperity and lasting peace.”

The Politburo, party officials, and the KGB will use the phrase “bright future” as an excuse to be tough on the people.

Don't you like what the Soviet media reports except propaganda and lies? please do not worry. This is for your safety. Towards a bright future!

Don't want your family to go to re-education camp? please do not worry. This is for your safety. Towards a bright future!

This word became a kind of coping mechanism for all those suffering under communist rule. Sure, this all sucks, but… a brighter future, you think?

In the name of ensuring “universal prosperity and lasting peace,” the Soviet Union injected political commissars and KGB thugs into every aspect of society, including industry, pseudo-business, and the media. The state, always called “the people” for some reason, had its tentacles over everything. No decisions were made without state approval, command, or manipulation.

The Twitter files showed that outside political actors have too friendly a relationship with Big Tech, and that these companies are all too willing to do their bidding.

We see this in totalitarian left-wing governments around the world. Chinese companies have completely penetrated the control of the Politburo. Under the Xi Jinping administration, the National Intelligence Law signed into law in 2017 clearly states that “any organization or citizen shall support, assist, and cooperate with national intelligence operations in accordance with the law.”

The next time you use your Huawei phone, or fire up TikTok and watch a series of cat videos with funny music, or buy that questionable Chinese watch that looks like a near-perfect Apple clone. I want you to think about that. clock.

The products you are using can be used to support China's national intelligence operations. Of course they told us this in advance, but we use them all anyway.

Knowing how both the Soviet Union and China treat their companies and their own citizens, it is worth asking how our current systems differ.

collusion on social media

The FBI itself, a political commissar, acknowledged last year that it had regular meetings with all the major social media companies. The station and company maintained, in their words, a “relationship” and “met weekly.”

Mark Zuckerberg hinted at the content of the meeting on Joe Rogan's podcast. He said the FBI warned Facebook about Russian propaganda about to be published. We now know this was referring to Hunter Biden's laptop.

But the problem was that the FBI already had a copy of the laptop's contents. The authorities knew it was not Russian propaganda. So why did the FBI feed misinformation to social media companies about what to do when Hunter's laptop was released, giving them a little “wink, wink, nudge, nudge” about what to do? Is it?

We already know that the FBI did not want Donald Trump to become president. We saw when an FBI lawyer was arrested for tampering with evidence to obtain a FISA warrant for spying on Trump campaign official Carter Page.

waiting for accountability

Speaking of FBI lawyers, it was top FBI lawyer James Baker who helped facilitate a meeting between Democratic operative Michael Sussman and FBI agents to investigate the fake Trump/AlphaBank defamation case. .

Mr. Baker then quits the FBI and guess who hired him right away. Twitter, of course. The disclosure of Elon Musk's Twitter files reveals that James Baker, as Twitter's top lawyer, helped suppress the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.

wait a minute! We have others, too!

When Musk tried to release a file showing how Twitter had suppressed stories, Baker intercepted the evidence to “vet” the file as it was about to be released. Did they do that to remove all indications of FBI involvement? Musk wasn't amused and fired James Baker. I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to his old job, his FBI.

Last year, Twitter files revealed that outside political actors (usually on the left) were too friendly with Big Tech, and that these companies were all too willing to do their bidding. That means there is.

We already knew all this. It was obvious. But when you look at it from their own emails, it's a terrible sight. It's been a year since then, has anyone been held accountable?

Let's go back to the first question. What's the difference between us and the Soviet Union and China? The difference is that the people of the Soviet Union and China were forced into this kind of behavior. Today, Silicon Valley and the media are doing just that. As the words say, “Towards a bright future!”
