Aaron Carter’s twin sister Angel spent years preparing for his death amid his addiction struggles

Aaron Carter’s twin sister, Angel, reflected on the years she spent watching him struggle with drugs from the age of 12 and preparing for his death.

On Wednesday’s episode of the “Squeeze” podcast, The singer spoke about the death of his brother, as well as his sister Leslie, who died of a drug overdose in 2012.

“What’s so interesting about Leslie’s death is, she died when I was 23, and her death was totally unexpected for me,” she told hosts Taylor and Tay Lautner. “I never expected that.”

“When she died, I was already in therapy preparing for Aaron’s death,” continued Angel, 36. “I thought he was going to die. I dreaded it throughout my 20s. I knew this day would come and I think he knew it too.”

The mother-of-one, who dedicated years of her life to trying to help the “I Want Candy” singer, explained that he was unable to overcome his addiction and often refused to support her.

She reflected on the singer’s struggles intensifying in the summer of 2019, when he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and experienced a suspected psychotic episode.

Around that time, Angel claims, Aaron told her about wanting to kill the baby and how he began collecting multiple guns within a week.

In response to the situation, Angel, who is new mom to daughter Harper Noelle Conrad, and her brother Nick have filed for a restraining order against the “Aaron’s Party” singer.

Aaron’s guns were confiscated by court order.

“I had to protect him from himself,” Angel said through tears.

Angel blamed the “Fools Gold” hitmaker’s downfall on years of being “exploited and taken advantage of” by those around him since he began his career at the age of nine.

“I couldn’t save him,” she said. “It wasn’t my responsibility to save him, but I tried.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Angel described Aaron as the family’s “breadwinner,” as she recalled that the pop star believed she was to blame for her parents’ divorce in 2003 because her greed for his own success tore them apart.

“He thought success had destroyed his family,” she said.

Aaron had started experimenting with marijuana before his parents divorced at age 12, but he didn’t start taking “hard” drugs until his parents officially quit.

“He was experimenting with ecstasy and smoking dusters,” Angell claimed, recalling that she didn’t find out until “years later” that Aaron was continuing to do “bad things” well into his 20s.

Prior to his death on Nov. 5, 2022, Aaron had been in and out of rehab facilities, his last treatment being in September 2022, while attempting to regain custody of his now-2-year-old son, Prince, whom he had with ex-fiancée Melanie Martin.

Aaron was found dead at the age of 34 after slipping and falling in the bathtub of his California home.

His death was ruled accidental, but he was found to have been under the influence of several drugs, according to an autopsy report obtained by Page Six.

A year later, her sister Bobbie Jean’s father, 41, died from drug abuse.
