Aaron Glenn expresses frustration over Jets' ineffective rushing defense after Dolphins gain 239 yards.

When Jets head coach Aaron Glenn heard about the Dolphins racking up 239 rushing yards—the most his team has permitted this season—he looked visibly shaken.

“That’s too much,” he stated firmly. “That’s BS. You can’t allow 250 yards rushing. It’s plain and simple. We need to address that.”

Last week, the Jets managed to secure a win despite letting Falcons running back Bijan Robinson run for 142 yards, finishing 27-24 in their favor.

This time, Miami’s Devon Ashen put the Jets on the spot, rushing for 92 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries before leaving the game with a rib injury.

His backup, Jalen Wright, also had a strong performance, accumulating 107 yards and a touchdown from 24 carries.

Ollie Gordon II contributed with 17 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

ESPN reported that the Jets had a staggering 10 missed tackles in this match, which is unusually high.

“Clearly, it was a missed tackle that caused the big plays,” Jets linebacker Jamian Sherwood commented. “What we showed today isn’t reflective of our training or what we want to achieve as a team. We really must improve.”

Meanwhile, Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson expressed frustration about Miami’s initial offensive strategy, remarking, “They scripted a solid first 15 plays.”

Reflecting on his own tackling, Johnson noted it was “not good.”

“We didn’t perform at the level we’re capable of,” he added. “We knew Miami was going to come out strong, and we had a plan, but we just couldn’t implement it.”

The Jets had a few opportunities against Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, but he extended his interception-free streak to 13 games.

Rookie safety Malachi Moore and cornerback Isaiah Oliver both missed interception chances in the second quarter.

Tagovailoa came into the game tied for the league’s most interceptions, with 14, and has thrown 58 total since entering the NFL in 2020, a concerning statistic.

Still, these struggles didn’t translate into any changes in the Jets’ unfortunate losing streak.

“Defensively, we had chances to create turnovers but failed to do so,” Glenn noted. “Receivers need to secure the ball, and when it comes our way, we must capitalize.”

The Jets’ special teams, however, continue to shine. Isiah Williams not only scored on a 78-yard punt return but also executed a successful fake punt later in the game.

This marked the Jets’ fourth special teams touchdown of the season, the most in the league.

In a fourth-and-8 situation from their own 25, Moore took a short snap and completed a pass to running back Isaiah Davis, gaining 19 yards for a first down, leading to a field goal from Nick Folk.

In terms of injuries, beyond QB Tyrod Taylor, who left the game after just six plays due to a groin issue, others affected included DL Tyler Barron (knee), LB Kiko Mauigoa (shoulder), TE Stone Smart (possible concussion), and TE Mason Taylor (needle).

Tua Tagovailoa has achieved a 7-0 record against the Jets as the Dolphins’ starting quarterback.

Interestingly, he is 0-7 in games played in temperatures below 46 degrees, while the Sunday game had a high in the low 40s, as noted by the Palm Beach Post.

After firing general manager Chris Grier on October 31, the Dolphins have turned around from a 1-6 start to win four consecutive games, having taken five of their last six.
