Aaron Judge joins legendary club after grand slam vs. Red Sox

Aaron Judge's electrifying grand slam didn't just lead the New York Yankees to a shocking win over the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

The outburst made the Yankees captain a special figure in MLB history.

Only three players have ever hit 50+ home runs, 30+ doubles, 120+ walks and 130+ RBIs in a single season.

Babe Ruth accomplished this twice, in 1920 and 1921, Barry Bonds did it in 2001, and now Aaron Judge will do it in the 2024 season.

Judge went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in the Yankees' 5-4 comeback win.

Judge walked in the first inning for his 120th walk of the season, and then hit a grand slam to earn four RBIs, bringing his season total to 130.

The 32-year-old is in the midst of a fantastic season that could see him win his second MVP award in three seasons.

The center fielder is batting .321 with 52 home runs and 130 RBIs, leading the major leagues.

After hitting two home runs against the Colorado Rockies on Aug. 26, the six-time All-Star appeared to have a shot at breaking his own American League single-season home run record, which he set in 2022 with 62 home runs.

However, after that game, Judge went 16 straight games without hitting a home run, the longest streak of his career.

The three-time Silver Slugger Award winner found the perfect timing to end his home run-less streak with a grand slam in the seventh inning to put the Yankees ahead, 5-4.

With the Yankees win and the Baltimore Orioles' loss to the Detroit Tigers on Friday, New York extended its lead in the American League East to three games.

The Yankees will face the Red Sox again on Saturday, looking to extend their lead atop the division.
