Aaron Judge may not be ready for Yankees Opening Day

TAMPA — Aaron Judge underwent an MRI on his abdomen Monday that showed no abnormalities, but said he has not yet resumed his swing.

Judge added that he doesn’t know when he will play again this spring, but is “pretty confident” he will be ready for the March 28 opener.

“I don’t want to speculate,” the judge said.

He was originally scheduled to return to action against the Red Sox on Wednesday, but that didn’t happen.

“I was feeling a little sick, so I thought it would be best to take a few days,” Judge said at Steinbrenner Field. “I’ll be right back…The most important thing is opening day.”

According to the judge, he had been feeling discomfort in this area for about a week, mainly when following his swing.

He was also scheduled to take defensive training in Tampa on Tuesday.

The judge said his discomfort was “mild” and he plans to resume swinging “probably later this week.”
