Aaron Judge named Team USA captain for 2026 World Baseball Classic

Judge Aaron has added another captain to his resume.

He announced Monday that the American League MVP will be captain of Team USA at next year’s World Baseball Classic.

The judge did not attend the final WBC in 2023. This is because it took place during first spring training after signing a nine-year, $360 million contract that was also named the team’s first captain since Derek Jeter.

“Sitting at the house watching Team USA fight, it wasn’t the best,” the judge said on the last MLB network that he lost the MLB network on Monday. “I wanted to be there. It was in the middle of a free agency.”

He has since won another MVP, and this time he has not hesitated to call it a “special honor.”

“It’s an amazing opportunity to have the opportunity to represent this country and bring Team USA to my heart,” the judge said.

Mike Trout was the captain of Team USA for the previous WBC.
