Aaron Judge's thoughts on his recent struggles and the team's difficulties

Yankees Struggles Continue Despite Home Runs

After three consecutive shutouts, the Yankees finally found some offense, thanks to a couple of home runs. However, Aaron Judge, the team’s star, is enduring a significant slump.

In a tough game against the Angels, Judge went without a hit, contributing to a narrow 3-2 loss for the Yankees. This marked a noticeable decline in his performance, as his batting average dropped from .396 to .366 over just one week.

While Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Cody Bellinger hit home runs and put an end to the Yankees’ lengthy scoreless inning streak, Judge’s struggles are apparent. He struck out again, marking 19 strikeouts in his last eight games.

“It’s just baseball,” Judge commented, acknowledging the challenges. “I hit a couple of good balls today that didn’t lead to anything. I just have to come out tomorrow and do my job.” He noted that the team is working hard but sometimes doesn’t capitalize on their opportunities.

In a crucial moment during the eighth inning, after the Angels briefly took the lead due to an error, Judge stepped up with a chance to tie or take the lead with runners on base. However, he ended up flying out to center field on the first pitch he saw, disappointing the fans who were hoping for a clutch hit.

Jasson Domínguez had reached third base earlier in the inning, but the Yankees couldn’t capitalize further as Bellinger ended the threat with a foul out.

Judge’s performance was further marred by a groundout against Angels starter Jack Kochanowitz, making it a rough night overall. When manager Aaron Boone was asked about Judge’s recent performance, he was somewhat supportive. “He hit some hard ones the other night and had walks,” Boone said, recognizing that hitting two home runs every week isn’t always feasible.

“I mean, it’s a tough game,” Boone added. “He’s adjusting as he always does, but sometimes you just have off nights.”
