Aaron Rodgers gives Jordan Love advice after record $220M deal

Aaron Rodgers has some ideas about how to spend Jordan Love’s new $220 million contract with the Packers.

“Congratulations to Jordan Love on becoming the highest-paid player in the NFL. Love, you don’t want to spend it all in one place,” Rodgers said during an appearance on NFL Network on Saturday, “but if you do, I still have a house for sale in Green Bay.”

Considering Rodgers officially leaves Green Bay in April 2023, it makes sense he would have a hard time selling assets.

Love, who currently makes $55 million a year, could help.

ESPN reported Friday that the player’s contract includes a record $75 million signing-on bonus and $155 million fully guaranteed.

His average annual salary of $55 million is tied for the highest in league history.

Love, who threw for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns in his first year as a starter last season, was drafted to replace Rodgers in 2020 and likely hastened his exit from Green Bay.

Nonetheless, he led the Packers to a postseason and wild-card round victory last season.

Rodgers, through no fault of his own, ruptured his Achilles in Week 1 against the Bills, ending his season after just four appearances and sending the Jets to another dismal season after a summer of great promise.

Rodgers, refreshed after a tour of Egypt this year, will be hoping to achieve the results he missed out on in 2023.

“My dear Jets fans, I got to meet some great fans in Tahoe, and he’s just as passionate as you guys,” Rodgers said on NFL Network. “It’s going to be a season with a lot of ups and downs, probably more ups and downs, but just stick with us. Obviously we want to stay healthy and we have big dreams.”

“The last 13 years have been tough, but things are changing.”
