Firefighter Ed has an influential benefactor in the Jets organization's woes.
Last week, a famous Jets fan, real name Ed Anzalone, claimed that the team would “phase out” his appearance on MetLife Stadium's video board.
This was a situation that needed to be investigated, as Aaron Rodgers' weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” has no shortage of topics.
“What's going on? Do you hate Fireman Ed anymore? What's going on?” McAfee asked Rogers.
“I love Fireman Ed. I don't know,” Rogers said.
At this point, McAfee producer Ty Schmidt began giving his impressions of Firefighter Ed, stating, “The Jets are trying to phase me out.”
Mr. Rogers hinted that the situation would improve.
“See you on Halloween. You'll find out when I get home,” Rogers said, seemingly hinting at Fireman Ed's long standing on the video message board being restored.
Reflecting on his impressions, Schmidt said he was the biggest thing to happen to the franchise in the last 20 years, but the team didn't value him.
“i will do it [appreciate him]'' said Mr. Rogers. “I'd like to see him back there.”
Rodgers said he had heard about the controversy but was “unaware” of any apparent misconduct occurring during the game at MetLife Stadium.
The Jets quarterback likened the situation to when they tried to “phase out the bikini girls” on Green Bay's scoreboard, which sparked a fan revolt.
“There was a huge backlash,” Rogers laughed.
In a video posted to Instagram last week, Firefighter Ed was adamant that something was wrong with the production inside the Jets' stadium, which didn't show much of the Jets during key moments.
“I don't know exactly what's going on, but they're phasing us out,” he said. “If anyone knows anything please let me know because it's obvious it's happening. We need home field advantage and we need to stop it. That's what we have. and we need to continue doing so.
Something is going on and if you know anything please let me know. ”
