Aaron Rodgers’ Injury Update
Aaron Rodgers was spotted wearing a wrist brace at Steelers practice on Thursday. He sat out of practice on Wednesday but was noted as a limited participant, with a few days left before the Steelers face off against their NFC North rival, the Bears.
Despite dealing with a fracture in his non-throwing wrist, the Pittsburgh quarterback appears eager to play in the upcoming game on Sunday. Coach Mike Tomlin has indicated that Rodgers’ participation will hinge on his comfort and functionality.
“It would be for safety reasons,” Rodgers mentioned. “You need to feel okay and able to protect yourself,” he added, reflecting his cautious approach. On Thursday, he did take some snaps in shotgun formation, although he expressed that this particular setup is less concerning for him.
He pointed out that “taking snaps under center is actually more challenging than catching in the shotgun.” Over the years, he’s adjusted his approach, sometimes opting for pistol formations to help maintain spacing in plays. However, his aim remains to take snaps from under center.
The injury occurred late in the second quarter during Sunday’s match against the Bengals, when he landed awkwardly on his wrist. After that, Mason Rudolph stepped in as quarterback and helped lead the Steelers to a 34-12 victory.
If Rodgers can’t go, Rudolph is expected to make the start. The Steelers currently stand at 6-4, leading the 5-5 Ravens in the AFC North as they head into Week 12.
