Super Bowl-winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers mocked President Biden for challenging President Donald Trump to carry his own golf bag if they were to play against each other.
The comments came during a presidential debate in June, when the two presidents discussed golf handicaps.
“I’m in great health. I just won two championships, not the senior championships, but the regular club championships,” Trump boasted.
The current president said his golfing skills have also improved significantly.
“I’d love to have a driving contest with him. I got my handicap down to six when I was vice president. And by the way, as I said before, I’d be happy to play golf with you if you’d carry your bag,” Biden replied.
“The biggest lie is that he’s a six handicap” – Trump Added.
“Nothing actually changes. They just talk about what they’re going to do and then they don’t do anything.”
The New York Jets star brought up the debate with podcasters Eric Sollenberger and Dan Katz while out golfing in Lake Tahoe.
“Did you enjoy the debate? Did you watch it?” Rogers asked the moderator.
“The debate was amazing,” Sollenberger responded. “It made me fall in love with America. I feel like we’ve found the two best people for the job. I’m very happy.”
Rogers then brought up the topic of the president’s golfing.
“When we started talking about golf, Trump recently spent $1 million [bet]He’ll give Joe 10 strokes on one side.”
“My favorite bit that didn’t get much attention was when Biden said, ‘You have to carry your own baggage.’ This is a guy who can’t even get off the stage,” he exclaimed.
Since the debate, Biden has withdrawn from the race, while Trump has been hitting the golf course with PGA Tour star Bryson DeChambeau.
“I tell them to put on a singlet and get wrestling,” Rogers joked. Please excuse my opinion“
The conversation then drifted freely to golf and eventually moved to commenting on the back-and-forth support Rogers has received from political parties.
“I saw your tee shot. It wasn’t that great,” Sollenberger said.
“So, which one?” Rogers asked.
“Just like your politics, it leans heavily to the far right,” the presenter laughed.
Rogers also used the opportunity to reflect on an earlier political golf controversy.
“I love it when people try to disown me. When I played golf with Obama, I was left wing, and the right wing tried to disown me. … Then I was Team Kennedy, so everyone tried to disown me politically. Then the right wing tried to attack me again because I didn’t shake hands with Trump, but then they realized I actually shook hands with him and changed course.”
Rogers also cited the 2016 emails between Bernie Sanders and John Podesta as an example of how the public was able to see the true intentions of political parties.
“Like I’ve said from the beginning, politics is a total sham,” he explained. “Nothing’s changed. They just talk about what they’re going to do and then they don’t do anything. Life hasn’t actually gotten better for any of us, Republican or Democrat. We’re still in the same shitty two-party system and we still haven’t forgiven Bobby Trump. [Kennedy] Anyone can enter.”
The group also went on to discuss term limits, age limits and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s stock portfolio.
“She’s a great stock trader,” Rogers said.
