Rodgers Ruffled Some Feathers in Pittsburgh
This week has been quite the whirlwind for the NFL veteran quarterback in his 40s.
Aaron Rodgers stirred things up on the sidelines during the Steelers’ 28-15 victory over the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. This comes right after Philip Rivers made a return to the NFL with the Colts on Sunday, nearly five years after retiring at 44.
During the game, ESPN’s Hot Mic captured Rodgers, 42, in a back-and-forth with a Dolphins player. In a playful jab, he told the quarterback, “You can’t be on the sideline, do the old man’s job.”
Rodgers didn’t hold back, responding, “You’re down 21-3 and you’re still talking?”
It seems Miami’s players and coaches were amused by the interaction. Meanwhile, Rodgers had a solid performance, completing 23 of 27 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns, which helped lead the Steelers to an 8-6 record. They’ve taken the top spot in the AFC North.
Pittsburgh is currently leading Baltimore by one game in the division, with three more games remaining against Detroit, Cleveland, and the Ravens at home.
Having spent the last couple of years with the Jets, including an injury-plagued season in 2023, Rodgers threw for 2,594 yards, 22 touchdowns, and seven interceptions over 13 games with Pittsburgh.
He reflected on the current season, expressing a sense of nostalgia: “It’s been a while since I’ve been a part of something like this. Nothing has changed. I just feel really comfortable in this environment.”
