Aaron Rodgers Eyes Retirement with Packers

Aaron Rodgers has expressed his intention to retire with the Green Bay Packers, marking a significant end to his career.

At 41 years old, Rodgers spoke about his retirement aspirations ahead of an upcoming matchup against his former team, the Steelers, indicating that he is “almost certain” this current season will be his last.

Reflecting on his 18 years with the Packers, Rodgers noted, “Regardless of when I leave, that’s a big part of my career. I’m going to retire a Packer and see what happens after that. I have a lot of love for this organization.” He mentioned that he experienced some of the best times of his life in Green Bay.

Rodgers was drafted by the Packers in 2005 as the 24th overall pick. Over his 18 seasons with the team, he garnered four MVP awards and won the Super Bowl in 2010. His statistics with Green Bay include 59,055 passing yards and 475 touchdowns in 230 games.

In a surprising turn, the Packers traded Rodgers to the Jets following the 2022 season, acquiring four draft picks in the deal. However, his time with the Jets has been disappointing, as he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury just four plays into the 2023 season. Previously, he had thrown for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns during a challenging 5-12 season.

Despite these setbacks, Jets owner Woody Johnson remains optimistic and stated, “I’m never looking back. In football, you have to move forward. Even if you cut players, those players could be in the Hall of Fame.” He added that Rodgers is currently in a good situation for himself, highlighting his ongoing potential.
