Terry Bradshaw’s Thoughts on Aaron Rodgers’ Move to the Steelers

Terry Bradshaw didn’t quite get what he was hoping for.

When rumors spread about Aaron Rodgers possibly joining Bradshaw’s Pittsburgh Steelers, the former quarterback dismissed the idea as a “joke.” He questioned, “What are you doing? Just for a year? Really? The guy should stay in California.”

After significant speculation, Rodgers ultimately signed a one-year contract with the Steelers, announcing that this would mark his final season in the NFL.

Rodgers is at his 21st training camp now, having spent 18 with the Green Bay Packers and two with the New York Jets. Naturally, the media brought up Bradshaw’s previous comments, prompting Rodgers to chuckle a bit.

In a lighthearted manner, he remarked, “I whisper to God every day,” referring to Bradshaw’s earlier remarks.

Despite the teasing, Rodgers took the opportunity to ask Bradshaw to overlook the negative press surrounding him. He acknowledged their long-standing acquaintance and expressed high regard for Bradshaw, stating, “Terry is a legend. He’s won four Super Bowls and has an incredible media career.” However, he pointed out that Bradshaw, like many, may not truly know him.

Rodgers emphasized, “He has certain ideas about me shaped by what I’ve done—documentaries, interviews, the retreat in the darkness… But I want to know Terry much better.” He left an open invitation, adding, “If he’s willing, I’d love to connect on a deeper level.”

Rodgers further shared his respect for Bradshaw and the other legends of the game, noting, “They laid the groundwork for us to enjoy this wonderful sport. They were compensated generously and upheld a tradition of excellence. We truly stand on their shoulders.”

As the Steelers gear up for their regular season opener against the Jets on September 7th, anticipation builds for what this final season will bring for Rodgers.
