Aaron Rodgers to Play Final NFL Season with Steelers

Aaron Rodgers, the 41-year-old quarterback, has indicated that his upcoming season with the Steelers is likely his last. He shared this insight during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.

“I’m pretty sure this is it. We only signed a one-year deal, and the Steelers didn’t add any extra years,” Rodgers stated.

Shortly after, he tweeted, “I am sure this is my last season, so we made a year-long deal. I’ve been playing for 20 years and have truly enjoyed it. There’s no better way to finish than with Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

Rodgers emphasized his desire to wrap up his career filled with love, fun, and peace, recalling his two-decade journey in the league as long and fulfilling.

His remarks came after Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with the Steelers, following a drawn-out free agency ordeal. Rodgers began his NFL journey with the Packers in 2005, being chosen 24th overall.

He became the starting quarterback for the Packers after Brett Favre retired in 2008 and led the team to a Super Bowl victory in February 2011.

After spending the entire 2022 season with the Packers, he was traded to the Jets in April 2023. His arrival in New York generated considerable buzz, but his first season was cut short after just four plays due to an Achilles injury.

Rodgers returned to play the entire 2024 season, throwing for 3,897 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, but the Jets ended with a disappointing 5-12 record, missing the playoffs.

Following the 2024 season, Rodgers and the Jets parted ways amicably. They stayed in touch during free agency, where the situation for quarterbacks became quite personal. Eventually, he formed a connection with the Steelers’ management back in June.

The Steelers are set to kick off the 2025 NFL season against the Jets on September 7th.
