Aaron Rodgers terrible as offense sinks

Review of the Jets' 23-17 loss to the Vikings on Sunday in London:

offense

The Jets turned the ball over three times and allowed 11 quarterback hits.

We only had one long drive and started slow again.

QB Aaron Rodgers (29-of-54, 244 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs, 54.9 QB rating) had a bad day.

He gave the Vikings a touchdown on a pick-six to Andrew Van Ginkel, but could not lead the Jets to the winning score at the end.

It was another tough day for the offensive line, as Rodgers had only 36 rushing yards and 11 hits.

WR Garrett Wilson (22 targets, 13 catches, 101 yards, 1 TD) was strong.

defense

Although the Jets got off to a slow start, they played a suffocating defense against the offense that had been tearing the team apart.

The Jets only allowed two field goals in the second half, and Vikings star WR Justin Jefferson (six catches, 92 yards) had a pretty quiet day by his standards.

The biggest problem was penalties.

Sauce Gardner (3 penalties) and DJ Reed (2 penalties) were both flagged for being too physical. Some of the calls seemed questionable, but still ended up hurting the Jets in the end.

Vikings QB Sam Darnold (14-for-31, 179 yards, 1 INT, 50.3 rating) looked more like the Jets Darnold of old than the guy who got off to a hot start this season.

special teams

Xavier Gipson provided a huge spark for the Jets with a 35-yard punt return before halftime, setting up the Jets for their first score of the game.

Greg Zuerlein made a field goal in the final minute of the game after last week's fumble.

Punter Thomas Morstead made two punts inside the 20.

coaching

The Jets started slow again.

Robert Saleh needs to find out why it is taking so long for the team to get back on its feet.

The Jets played well for most of the third quarter Sunday, but the first quarter put them in a hole.

Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett has yet to find a way to get the run game going.

On Sunday, the Jets had 14 rushes and 57 dropbacks.

That's not a winning formula.
