Aaron Rodgers Watch far from over as Giants, Steelers wait

You can go to a retreat in the darkness and you may not be worried about Aaron Rodgers making decisions about his future when you are gone.

After the Vikings signed him, Rodgers, who only the Giants and Steelers, is “in a hurry” to decide on plans for 2025. ESPN reported on Wednesday.

This latest report is one of a series of Rogers updates that showed the former Jet quarterback didn't feel any pressure to sign.

He reportedly wanted to sign with the Vikings, but Minnesota is instead committed to second-year quarterback JJ McCarthy.

It appears to have left Rodgers' sweepstakes with two teams.

The Giants and Steelers will want to make sure they know where Rogers is standing so they can adjust as needed.

Russell Wilson is still a free agent and recently met both the Giants and Browns after a season with the Steelers.

Wilson didn't sign either club, so it appears he or the team is waiting for Rogers Domino to fall before he falls.

The Giants also spoke with Jamis Winston and Joe Flaco, who are Barrel of the Barrel options for coach Brian Daball and general manager Joe Shane entering the make-or-break season.

The Steelers were always able to bring Wilson back, but they reportedly preferred to re-sign Justin Field before landing with the Jets.

Wilson, 36, lost five straight games to end the 2024 season.

The optics that hold the quarterback are poor that floped when it became an issue.

So there are two of the NFL's prestigious franchises awaiting the whims of the 41-year-old quarterback.

Not everyone is OK with this wait.

Adam Shefater has expressed the issue in this long-term process, but Steelers star Cam Hayward said he should know if Rogers wants to wear black and gold.

“I'm not retreating that darkness. I don't need that crap,” Hayward recently said on his podcast. “You want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or not. It's easy. It's simple. It's pitch. If you want to recruit, that's the recruitment pitch. If you want to be a part of the Pittsburgh Steelers, otherwise you don't have any skin from your back.”

Over the past year, there have been many reasons why the team will pass Rodgers, including a flop with the Jets, but the desperate team has been forced to take desperate measures.

Motivated Rogers can pair himself with either the Giants' Malik Narvers or the Pittsburgh duo of George Pickens and DK Metcalf to sell himself with the idea of lifting offensive.

But the Jets had Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams… and it went 5-12.

One potential problem with Rogers is that the Giants and Steelers could theoretically create alternative plans before he decides, but it feels safe to say that if they had planned to do so, they would have already done it.

Grab a bag of soda and chips and buckle it. The Rogers Watch may not be nearing its end.
