Virginia law enforcement has released a mugshot of a terrifying suspect who confessed that the Department of Justice would be scouting the attack route during the 2021 monastery gate bombing in Afghanistan, killing 13 service members.
ISIS-K member Mohammad Sharihula appeared in Virginia's first federal court on Wednesday to provide and conspire to provide material support and resources to designated foreign terrorist organizations that will lead to death.
According to the Associated Press, he wore a light blue prison jumpsuit and listened to headphones as the interpreter translated the lawsuit.
His official defense attorney declined to comment after his appearance in court, ending with him being held at least until a hearing was set for detention Monday.

Sharifullah was handed over to the US on Tuesday night to “facing American justice,” FBI director Kash Patel said.
“Three and 1/2 years later, 13 justice,” Patel added to X.
President Donald Trump announced the capture of Sharihula during his speech before the council, saying he was “pleasant to announce that we have just announced that we have been held responsible for the atrocities.”

During the US military withdrawal in the summer of 2021, the US and Allied forces were conducting evacuation operations at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
According to the Justice Department, the monastery gate was the main entry point for the operation, with thousands of civilians in the area on August 26, 2021.
“Abdul Rahman Al Rogali – Abdul Rahman Al Rogali, a member of Iraq and Ash Sham Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), exploded a body-mounted suicide bomb attack at the monastery gates, killing 13 US military service members and around 160 civilians,” the Justice Department said.

According to a Justice Department affidavit released this week, Sharifler confessed to scouting the attack route and training gunmen involved in terrorist attacks near Moscow last year.
