ABC News executives were reportedly “infuriated” after learning that former Democratic activist George Stephanopoulos was biased against President Biden.
Stephanopoulos, 63, was reportedly told by the network’s news chief, Debra O’Connell, that “he’s a reporter who is expected to be objective.” Radar OnlineFormer President Bill Clinton adviser tells Manhattan passersby, “I [Biden] He can serve another four years.”
Stephanopoulos’ candid video, published by TMZ on Tuesday, triggered an internal ABC meeting that resulted in O’Connell calling on “Good Morning America” and “This Week” host Stephanopoulos to apologize for his comments, which Stephanopoulos did.
“Today I answered a question from a passerby and I should not have done so,” the news anchor said in a statement to Puck News, hours after his comments went viral.
ABC News added in a statement to the outlet that “George expressed his own views, not the position of ABC News.”
An ABC News spokesperson strongly denied Radar Online’s report.
“This is simply not true,” a spokesperson told The Post.
Stephanopoulos expressed doubts about the 81-year-old president during his interview, watched by an estimated 8.5 million Americans, just days after he focused on his disastrous debate performance with former President Trump and his political future amid plummeting approval ratings.
