Giants Linebacker Criticizes Quarterback’s Support for Trump
Giants linebacker Abdul Carter was absent from a meeting focused on quarterback Jackson Dart’s choice to introduce President Trump at a rally in New York, and it’s clear why he chose not to attend.
During his first public appearance after voicing his disapproval of Dart’s support for Trump on social media, Carter did not soften his stance. In fact, he escalated his criticism, emphasizing that it was Dart’s “responsibility” to support the president.
Carter informed reporters that he would address the Dart-Trump matter only once, starting with, “Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of them.”
“Jackson is one of our leaders. He’s the face of our franchise. His actions represent all of us. If he chooses to align himself with someone like President Trump, he’s showing his teammates, and the world, where he stands,” Carter explained. He added, “It’s my responsibility to express my beliefs. This doesn’t mean we have animosity. I sit next to Jackson daily. We’re close, and it’s crucial for our team to be on the same page. That’s what truly matters.” He expressed a desire to navigate this situation thoughtfully.
However, before concluding, Carter clarified that he had not asked Dart for an apology.
“I don’t want him to apologize. I want him to stand firm in his beliefs, just as I do. As long as we understand each other, we’ll be alright.”
Dart was present at Trump’s rally at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, on May 22, and faced significant backlash on social media, with Carter among those criticizing his choice.
“I thought this was AI. This is what we do,” Carter had tweeted, though this message has since been deleted.
Dart also commented on the situation, stating that no matter one’s political views, he holds a deep love for America and respects the presidency.
Both Dart and Carter were selected as first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
