The nanny tried to keep custody of Foxman. She lost a legal battle against his parents, but reportedly attempted to abduct him. During this time, his parents quietly fled to the United States.
Mr. Foxman joined the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) right after graduating from New York University School of Law in 1965. He held various roles within the organization and ultimately became the national director in 1987.
Upon retiring after a distinguished 50 years at ADL, he passed the leadership to Jonathan Greenblatt, the current CEO. Greenblatt expressed his sorrow over the loss of this pioneer, referring to him as an important “moral voice.”
