Abigail Breslin isn’t afraid to speak up for what she believes.
Oscar-nominated actress Breslin sent a message to X on Wednesday that many assumed was about singer Katy Perry and her new song, which was made with the help of producer Dr. Luke, who pop star Kesha has alleged sexually assaulted. In response, Breslin received a number of insults and even death threats.
“My point is, working alongside known abusers in any industry only reinforces the perception that men can do abhorrent things and get away with it,” Breslin wrote on the social media site.

In the same post, she added, “Also I love @KeshaRose and she put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen last year <3 Stream Kesha!"
Perry has been under fire in the past few weeks since it was revealed she produced new music with the help of Dr. Luke (real name Lukas Sebastian Gottwald), who Kesha has long accused of sexual assault and emotional abuse.
Earlier this week, Perry released a teaser for the song “Woman’s World,” so it was no surprise to many to assume Breslin was referring to her.

Breslin’s post now has over 400 replies, with many supporting her comments while others have attempted to criticize her.
“Worry about your music career failing. No need to love one and disparage the other,” one reply read.
“Nobody cares about you or Cashew. Hope this helps,” another comment read, with “Cashew” being a derogatory term for Kesha.
“You’re worthless, disgusting, nasty and beyond terrible. Stay away from Katie you fucking pig,” one person wrote.

Shortly after her first post, Breslin wrote another, writing, “Um really…? I didn’t say anything nasty. Calm down guys. I said I don’t support abusers. Crucify me. And I never said I have a great music career. God…calm down.”
She added: “I have been against SA and domestic violence for many years. [sexual assault and domestic violence] So no matter how much you tell me I’m worthless, disgusting or awful, I’m not going to stop speaking out about this.”
The actress retweeted some comments agreeing with her original assertion and responded to several X users who had called her out.

She continued, “So I made a post calling out my abuser and supporting an artist I love… apparently that means receiving death threats… cool.”
Her final post read, “Well. Good night everyone. I will not stop speaking out against abuse. I have never said anything negative about your fave. Please relax. I have the right to my opinion. You have the right to trash my career and treat me badly but I don’t know why you do. I stand by what I say.gn.”
Perry has not addressed Breslin’s comments or addressed the backlash she’s received over her work with Dr. Luke.
Kesha sued Dr. Luke in 2014, claiming that he drugged and raped her nine years ago and subjected her to emotional abuse throughout their working relationship. She claimed that he harassed her about her weight, belittled her, and wielded power over her career.

Dr. Luke countered the allegations in a defamation lawsuit, claiming that Kesha made “completely false and deeply hurtful” claims in an attempt to smear him and get out of a record deal.
In an Instagram post shared by the two last year, Recording Artist The producers then wrote, “Kesha and Dr. Luke have agreed to settle the lawsuit and have agreed to issue and publish a joint statement regarding the settlement. In settling the lawsuit, Kesha and Dr. Luke each state the following:

“Only God knows what happened that night,” Kesha wrote. “As I always say, I can’t tell you everything that happened. I am looking forward to closing this chapter of my life and beginning a new one.”
She added: “I just pray for peace for all involved.”

In his statement, Dr. Luke said, “I appreciate Kesha’s renewed admission that she cannot remember what happened that night in 2005, but I am certain nothing happened. I never drugged or assaulted her, and I would never do that to anyone.”
He added, “On behalf of my family, I have fought tirelessly for nearly a decade to clear my name. It is time to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha all the best.”
