Cooluli is recalling approximately 250,000 of its mini-refrigerators after receiving at least 19 reports of issues such as smoking, sparking, melting, and even catching fire, as noted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recall affects specific models of 10-liter and 15-liter Cooluli mini-refrigerators due to electric switches that can malfunction, posing a fire risk.
Reports indicate property damage exceeding $80,000, and one consumer has even reported issues with smoke inhalation.
These mini-fridges were available for purchase online at Amazon.com and Cooluli.com between January 2019 and October 2024, priced between $80 to $120.
Included in the recall are models from Cooluli’s Infinity, Classic, Glow Beauty, and Vibe series, all featuring an internal power supply and two power input ports (both AC and DC), unlike earlier models that had only a single DC port.
The affected refrigerators came in various colors like black, blue, green, white, and red, along with designs that included multicolored patterns and logos.
The name “Cooluli” is visibly printed on the front of these units.
Consumers should check for batch numbers 1535-1545 and 1200000-1202080, which can be found on a label inside the fridge door.
The CPSC advises consumers to stop using these refrigerators immediately and reach out to Cooluli for a free replacement power cord.
To determine if their appliance is part of the recall, consumers can input their model and batch numbers on Cooluli’s recall website. Owners of recalled mini-fridges are encouraged to unplug their units, disconnect the power cord, and send a photo that shows the model and batch number.
The CPSC indicates that Cooluli will provide a replacement DC power cord along with a permanent sticker to cover the AC port for affected consumers.
Cooluli was approached for comment regarding the recall and the reported incidents, as well as the measures in place to resolve the issues.
These mini-refrigerators were produced in China by Ningbo Bingshan Electronic Appliance Co., Ltd. and imported by Lisse USA LLC, based out of Brooklyn, New York.
