Chloe Cole’s Journey and Reflections on Faith
Chloe Cole, a 21-year-old who previously identified as male, has shared her experiences regarding her pursuit of transgender identity. She mentioned that her lack of belief in God left her feeling hollow, which led her to seek what she called a “false idol” in transgenderism.
Beginning at age 13, Cole took puberty blockers, and by 15, she underwent a double mastectomy. However, by the time she turned 16, she recognized that she had been misled about her identity. Since then, she has transitioned into a follower of Jesus Christ, working with young individuals affected by what she refers to as “gender-affirming care.”
In a recent interview during Turning Point USA’s America Fest in December in Phoenix, Arizona, Cole reflected, “My lack of faith left a hole in my identity, and I felt like I had to seek something more.” She expressed feelings of unhappiness, stating that without understanding her creation in God’s image, she struggled with life’s challenges. “I was guaranteed to struggle,” she noted, emphasizing the importance of faith and prayer in navigating those difficulties.
Despite being brought up in a Catholic and Mormon household, she described her upbringing as largely secular and agnostic, which, in her view, contributed to her confusion regarding her identity. “I think that was the biggest part of what led to the confusion I had about being a woman,” she said, explaining how her experiences with puberty and transgender issues filled the void left by a lack of faith.
She explained that her transition gave her a sense of control, allowing her to reshape how others viewed her and even how her body functioned through medical interventions. However, she recognized this as an illusion of power, calling it a “false god.”
Cole described transgender people as “false idols” she had been chasing, suggesting that she was focused on herself instead of embracing her identity as a daughter of God. “After detransitioning, I was still searching for purpose and didn’t find it until I found faith,” she reflected.
She believes God spoke to her through supportive Christian figures during her pivotal moments. “God doesn’t leave anything alone. No matter how much pain you’ve been through, it’s all part of God’s purpose,” she asserted. Cole emphasized the importance of trust in God’s plan, even in times of uncertainty, saying that this trust helped her discover her true purpose.
Although she sometimes feels unworthy or unsure about her place, she views it as essential to share her experiences to assist others in similar situations. “All that matters is that I use my testimony to help others, to help other children who are confused, to help other families who are lost,” she concluded.
