Two teams from the ACC have qualified for the NCAA Men’s Tournament: Duke University and the University of North Carolina.
Will anyone join them in a deep run this week in the ACC Tournament?
UNC enters the tournament as the top-seeded team, and the Tar Heels are coming off a spirited victory in their annual regular-season finale against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. A testing moment in the first half when Duke big man Kyle Filipovski appeared to trip UNC forward Harrison Ingram set the tone for the entire contest. The Tar Heels won, clinching the regular season title. A loss to the Blue Devils would mean UNC and Duke would share the regular season title.
Besides Duke and UNC, there are several other teams looking to earn a ticket to the big dance. Clemson probably has the third-best resume in the conference, as the Tigers have been in the top 25 this season and currently sit at No. 24. Ken Pomeroy’s ranking and in 26th place net ranking.
But some other teams could improve on their performance with a wild run in Washington, D.C., this week. Other teams to watch in the ACC include: wake forest (NET 38, KenPom 26), Pittsburgh (NET 44, KenPom 46), Virginia (NET 51, KenPom 66), Virginia Tech (56 in NET, 53 in KenPom).
It all starts Tuesday at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. SB Nation We cover every step of the way.
