The Texas teenage murder mother shed tears about the death threat that Carmelo Anthony claims is suffering on Thursday, and the “false information” about the family’s flooding social media.
Kayla Hayes, the suspect’s mother, told reporters that her family has become a target of threats and that their lives are confused by misinformation.
“This tragic incident has led to our family being attacked. Whatever I think happened between Carmelo and the boy Metcalf, my other three children, my husband and I, were threatened, harassed and not worthy of lying,” she said. KWTX-TV.
“The lies and false accusations that were said about us were overwhelming, and the lies put our families at risk,” she continued.
Hayes called the “lie and false accusations” “overwhelming.”
She also shed tears and said her husband had to take time off from work due to anxiety.
“My husband had to take leave because he was afraid of what would happen to our family. His mental health is getting worse every day,” she cried.
Speaking for the family, Minister Dominic Alexander tried to argue that Anthony’s alleged murder of fellow students at a school track convention was somehow similar to the life-threatening situation he faced with an armed mob in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 2020.
He then mistakenly claimed that Rittenhouse had shot people in the back before attacking Donald Trump and throwing race cards.
At a press conference, Hayes said, “Our son deserves the same right under the law that everyone else is given. We believe in the legal process, and that’s when the truth comes out.”
The father of the victim in this case also appeared at the press conference, but the Anthony family forced him to leave.
The Anthony family has been criticized for spending most of the hundreds of thousands of dollars donated to legally defend their son’s home or in his car rather than legal services.
