While Moira went into remission and was cancer-free after several months of treatment, Mac faced an even more difficult battle that lasted five-and-a-half years, Sinise said.

Mack worked for his father’s charity, the Gary Sinise Foundation, a veterans service organization, but ultimately had to leave his position at GSF in January 2020 due to the fight.

“Chordoma is a very rare form of cancer, so very few medical centers are studying it,” Sinise says. “We were fortunate to have the support of the Chordoma Foundation during our long and difficult battle.”
