Actor Michael Patrick Passes Away at 35

Michael Patrick, known for his role in “Game of Thrones,” has died at the age of 35 after a prolonged struggle with motor neurone disease. The news was confirmed by his writing partner, Oisin Carney, who remarked on Patrick’s talent, stating he could evoke laughter or tears almost instantly. Carney praised Patrick’s ability to blend comedy and tragedy, emphasizing that he believed theatre should be engaging and entertaining.

Patrick’s wife, Naomi Sheehan, shared the heartbreaking news on Wednesday through an emotional post, revealing that he passed away in a hospice in Northern Ireland. He had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease earlier in February 2023. She highlighted that he had been hospitalized for ten days and was surrounded by family and friends when he departed.

Naomi described her husband as an inspiration, not only throughout his illness but in everyday life. She characterized him as a “giant of a ginger-haired man” and expressed gratitude to those who supported them over the years. She recalled a quote by Brendan Behan that Patrick cherished: “The most important thing to do in the world is to have something to eat, something to drink, and someone to love you,” urging others not to overthink and to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

Motor neurone disease, as noted by the Cleveland Clinic, refers to neurological conditions that progressively damage motor neurons, which are crucial for muscle movements. Sadly, the condition leads to increasing disability and does not currently have a cure. Patrick also had roles in “The Keeper,” “Unhinged,” and “This Town,” leaving a mark in the entertainment industry.
