Actor Michael Pitt was reportedly arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend. According to law enforcement sources, the incident occurred on May 2 at around 9 PM. The charges against him include assault with a weapon, linked to “sexual motivation, sexual abuse, and forced impulses,” as noted by an outlet.
Authorities allege that Pitt sexually assaulted his then-girlfriend and attacked her with various “dull objects,” such as wooden planks and blocks of cinders.
Further reports suggest that the accusations stem from a range of incidents that took place between April 2020 and August 2021 at a location in Bushwick. Pitt has pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released from custody after posting a $100,000 bail.
One spokesperson remarked, “Unfortunately, we live in a world where skilled professionals like Mr. Pitt don’t contemplate these crimes.” They went on to suggest that the claims arise suspiciously after several years, highlighting that the two parties were in a mutually agreeable relationship during that time. They expressed confidence the case would be dismissed.
Pitt is notably recognized for his role as Jimmy Darmody in the first two seasons of “Boardwalk Empire,” where, ironically, his character was killed off reportedly due to his difficult behavior on set. His other notable works include “Hannibal,” “Hugo,” “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” “Dawson’s Creek,” and “Seven Psychopaths.” So far, he hasn’t publicly addressed these serious allegations.
