Former Actor Sentenced for Attempted Murder

On June 2, a judge sentenced former “How I Met Your Mother” actor Nick Pasqual to 32 years in prison following his conviction for attempted murder. This was related to the severe stabbing and sexual assault of his ex-girlfriend.

The jury found him guilty of crimes committed between January and May 23, 2024, when he forcibly entered Allie Shehorn’s Los Angeles home early in the morning and stabbed her over 20 times, as reported by USA Today.

Pasqual faced six counts, including attempted murder with a deadly weapon in a domestic violence situation. Criminal records from Los Angeles showed he was also found guilty of forcible rape, three felonies for injuring a partner, and first-degree felony burglary while someone was inside the home.

A GoFundMe campaign was set up to help Shehorn, who was critically injured during the attack.

Shehorn’s family shared that she had undergone several surgeries to treat severe wounds on her neck and to repair torn tendons in her right arm, and they sought help for her medical bills.

In court, Pasqual expressed that this was a burden he would bear for life and stated that he felt “deep remorse” for what he did in a video released by Starline Entertainment.

District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman commended Shehorn for her courage, noting that she miraculously survived and testified against her attacker. He emphasized that her testimony was pivotal in achieving a guilty verdict, ensuring that Pasqual could not harm anyone else.

Hochman also mentioned the troubling reality of domestic violence, highlighting how it often persists when victims are afraid and remain silent.

After the attack, Pasqual was apprehended while attempting to flee to Mexico. He was extradited back to Los Angeles to face charges and maintained his not guilty plea in March 2025. The trial lasted two weeks, with jurors deliberating for only an hour and a half before reaching their verdict, according to USA Today.

Aside from “How I Met Your Mother,” Pasqual has appeared in “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” the Steve Jobs biopic “Jobs,” and the 2009 film “Homecoming.”
