Actress Jameela Jamil posted a comment Tuesday suggesting that the suspect charged in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson should be praised.
Jamil responded to a post about Luigi Mangione from the Instagram account “Saint Ax”. An image of the alleged assassin has been released, informing fans that the alleged killer has been identified. The photos included one of Mangione shirtless and carrying a backpack. Another photo showed the alleged killer wearing a suit. The gallery also included information about Mangione and a snapshot of him apparently posing with a McDonald's box. “The person involved in the CEO shooting has been identified as Luigi Mangione,” the post reads, with the caption “They got him (allegedly).”
Jamil wrote four words in the comments section: “A star is born,” which instantly sent the internet into a frenzy. She highlighted the comment in a separate post on her Instagram Story alongside a gallery of Mangione from user “Sainthoax.”
This comment immediately divided fans.
Some internet users were quick to express disgust and disappointment at her support for the alleged killer.
One person said, “It's embarrassing.” Many others also expressed dissatisfaction.
But the majority agreed with Jamil.
“You took my wig off my body,” one person wrote.
“I snorted when I saw this comment, man,” added another.
Another wrote: “AHAHAHA.”
'Selling Sunset' star Christine Quinn shared a Tyra Banks meme and commented on the post with the following caption: We were all rooting for you. ”
She continued: “As a 26-year-old Ivy League valedictorian, you orchestrate the death of a CEO, you host a Ted Talk, quoting Nietzsche and Kaczynski like a Bond villain, complete with cryptic Easter eggs on set, and every ounce of your brain… Imagine the revelation that an Ivy League theater can't outrun McDonald's surveillance cameras.
