Jenny McCarthy Shares Spiritual Transformation After Tragic Event

Actress Jenny McCarthy recently disclosed that she and her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, have embraced Christianity more profoundly following the tragic assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on September 10. “I immediately started studying the Bible,” she noted.

In a conversation with Alex Clarke on Thursday, McCarthy remarked, “It’s about finding the silver lining, even in dire situations. Look at this mass awakening; so many people, including me, have drawn closer to God.” She mentioned her thoughts on a recent episode of the culture apothecary podcast.

When asked for more context, McCarthy explained her Catholic upbringing and admitted to having a “very deep relationship with God.” She expressed, “I’ve always followed Christ, but now I’m fully dedicated. I completely surrendered, so I dove into the Bible right away.”

She went on to encourage listeners to explore the Christian app Duomo, highlighting that her and Wahlberg’s spiritual journey has intensified since Kirk’s death.

“I truly believe Charlie understood the impact of his actions,” McCarthy said. “He recognized the sacrifices he made, and this moment resonated globally. Can’t you feel it — the awakening of so many?”

She continued, “For those who don’t feel it yet, I’m not judging; they just haven’t arrived at that point. I’m praying for them.” McCarthy expressed her hopes that Kirk is aware of the positive change he inspired, claiming, “He changed the world and helped countless people come closer to Christ. That’s a remarkable legacy.”

Later in the interview, Clarke noted McCarthy’s post after Kirk’s assassination, where she mentioned listening to worship music. “I was in tears,” she shared.

In an emotional moment, McCarthy admitted, “It was incredibly sad because his impact was significant.” She reflected on how some people seem to exist in “two separate realities,” with a singular narrative about Kirk that they cling to, missing the broader perspective.

“They were fed a story, and they believed it. If you really understood Charlie’s mission, you’d see it was a tremendous gift,” McCarthy stated.

She delved into the risks Kirk took, resonating with her own experiences of being threatened throughout her career. “I understand what’s required to speak the truth publicly, facing backlash and trolling,” she said.

McCarthy added that her respect for Kirk grew even more, particularly after he was shot. “I was heartbroken. I prayed, called numerous doctors, hoping for a miracle,” she recalled, pausing as emotions overtook her. “It felt like such a dark day, and it’s still a dark period for many.”
