Actor Lala Silva Talks Faith and Role in ‘The Chosen’
Lala Silva, who has been a part of “The Chosen” since its debut, plays the character Eden, the spirited wife of Simon Peter. She’s been there from the first episode and has seen her character grow in faith alongside the journey of the series. Season 5 is currently available on Prime Video, and Silva reflects on how her own faith has deepened during the show’s run.
“I’ve grown so much in my faith,” Silva shared in a recent interview, expressing how she now feels more empowered to share it.
She mentioned that she has “stopped caring” about what others think regarding her beliefs, describing this shift as a “really liberating” experience. Earlier this year, she collaborated with the Christian app Glorify to host Easter-themed prayers.
“It feels good to share my personal experiences and to know that this is authentic – God is real,” she added.
From the very beginning, Silva felt a sense of purpose in her role. Initially auditioning for Mary Magdalene, she was invited by director Dallas Jenkins to read for the part of Eden instead. It was a project that required both funding and fan support, and Silva recalls having doubts about the season’s completion.
“I remember reading the script and thinking, ‘This is really good,’” she reflected.
Silva believes that Eden resonates with her personality, making the character feel more relatable. “It clicked for me mentally. I was able to jump in, and I think it has been a great experience for both of us,” she said.
“God does amazing things, and here we are with Season 6.”
Season 6 will explore the Crucifixion, which Silva anticipates will be emotionally intense to film. “It’s going to be tough,” she acknowledged, addressing the scenes surrounding Jesus’ death.
“I’ll do my best, and we’re just going to keep telling the story,” she added.
