Sally Kirkland Enters Hospice Care Amid Ongoing Health Struggles
Actress Sally Kirkland is currently facing challenges with dementia and has entered hospice care. According to her attorney, Michael Green, the 84-year-old Hollywood figure began this phase of care at a hospital in Palm Springs, California.
Green mentioned that her close friend and former student, Cody Galloway, is staying by her side during this tough time.
The news outlet reached out to Kirkland’s representatives for further comments.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support her medical expenses, reflecting this ongoing health crisis. The page notes that Kirkland, who was nominated for an Oscar, is currently resting peacefully and appreciates the love she has been shown by her supporters.
In November 2024, the GoFundMe was launched to help Kirkland as she navigated significant health issues. Last year, she sustained serious injuries, breaking her neck, wrist, and hip. During recovery, she faced two severe infections that required extensive treatment.
Fundraiser organizers recently updated everyone on her condition, communicating that Kirkland had experienced a challenging few months, including setbacks from falls. They emphasized that she is now receiving round-the-clock care in a specialized facility.
A message from October noted that financial contributions are still being raised to cover her care costs, expressing gratitude for the ongoing support. As of Monday morning, the GoFundMe had successfully garnered over $58,900 of its $65,000 target.
Kirkland, a notable figure in the industry, has participated in more than 250 film and television projects over her extensive 60-year career. She achieved recognition for her performance in the 1987 film “Anna,” which earned her an Academy Award nomination, along with a Golden Globe and an Independent Spirit Award.
Besides “Anna,” her other well-known movies include “Bruce Almighty,” “Cold Feet,” “The Best of the Best,” and “JFK.” On television, she has featured in series like “Charlie’s Angels,” “Roseanne,” and “Murder She Wrote,” among others.
