Adam Carolla suggests 'repairing' Mexico by involving Israelis

Comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla faced backlash recently after suggesting that bringing more Jews and Israelis to Mexico might be the solution to the country’s problems. “No country needs Jews more than Mexico,” he mentioned on his podcast, asserting that the relationship between Mexicans and Jews was poor and needed improvement.

This remark came shortly after rising violence in Mexico, triggered by the reported death of cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, leading to fears among tourists about potential dangers as the cartel heightened its alert level and threatened retaliation.

Carolla positioned his comments within a broader geopolitical context, stating that “Mexico can’t be fixed because it’s 100% Mexico, and that’s not really working.” He contrasted this with Israel, arguing that the Jewish state would remain unfixable due to its hostile surroundings and the persistent threats against Jews, which he believed went beyond just territorial disputes.

At one point in the podcast, he characterized Israel as fraught with danger and violence, then circled back to Mexico, reiterating the notion that it desperately required an infusion of Jewish talent and culture.

He even proposed what he called a “reverse aliyah,” suggesting that Israelis could move to Baja California, an area he described as beautiful and reminiscent of Israel’s climate, predicting that they could turn it into a thriving paradise.

His vision included Israelis setting up businesses, improving governance, and developing infrastructure, envisioning a “utopia” within two decades. “Give it to Israel — give it to all your murderous neighbors,” he joked, insisting it could shift into a desirable destination in no time.

Currently, around 40,000 Jews live in Mexico, which has a total population of roughly 130 million. Interestingly, the country’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, is of Jewish descent.

Carolla, known for his strong opinions on various issues, has previously drawn ire for his views on COVID-19 mandates and LGBTQ+ topics, facing criticism from figures like Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmel, as well as from activist organizations.

Labelled a “right-wing troll” by detractors, Carolla is accused of transitioning from mainstream acceptance to inciting culture wars, though he argues he’s merely voicing what many are hesitant to say.
