Adam Driver Lists Brooklyn Heights Loft
Adam Driver’s loft in Brooklyn Heights has caught quite a bit of attention lately.
The three-bedroom condo at 20 Henry Street, which the “Marriage Story” actor quietly placed on the market for just under $5 million, went under contract on July 2—only about two weeks after it was listed on June 19. The final sale price hasn’t been disclosed yet.
The Driver family has spent years crafting this unique home at 20 Henry Street. They purchased the first unit back in 2014 and the second one in 2017 before merging them into one space.
As noted in records accessed, a trust associated with Driver acquired the loft for $4.24 million, transforming it with the help of Elizabeth Roberts Architects. The finished space, which spans 2,681 square feet and is in an 1892 candy factory, retains historic wooden columns and beams while introducing features like arched windows, glass and steel partitions, teak paneling, and bespoke millwork.
The layout includes three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, a separate study, and amenities like a doorman, gym, and cold storage. Carl Gambino of Compass is handling the listing, though a representative for the brokerage declined to offer any comments.
This quick transaction reflects Driver’s shift from one of Brooklyn’s most sought-after addresses.
Before putting his current place on the market, the Oscar-nominated actor finalized the purchase of a three-unit complex in The Standish, a building that also houses celebrities like Matt Damon, John Krasinski, and Emily Blunt.
Driver bought this new property for $11.5 million, which translates to over $3,200 per square foot—one of the highest prices ever recorded in Brooklyn.
The previous owners of The Standish, Mark Van Zandt and his wife Lindsay, took eight years to combine three apartment buildings. They sold a three-bedroom unit for $4 million in 2017 and added another unit for $1.2 million in 2021, eventually selling 601 units for $1 million last year.
Driver’s name didn’t appear on the sale documents, as a trust company represented him in this transaction.
The Standish has attracted numerous high-profile buyers. Damon set a record for Brooklyn in 2017 when he bought a 6,200-square-foot penthouse in the building for $16.8 million. Following that, Krasinski and Blunt acquired two units in 2019, spending $11 million to take over an entire floor.
Driver first gained fame through Lena Dunham’s HBO series “Girls” and became widely recognized for his role as Kylo Ren in 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” He earned consecutive Oscar nominations for his performance in Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman” and for his leading role in Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story.”
The Henry Street Condominiums are conveniently located near the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and Brooklyn Bridge Park, making for an easy trip to Lower Manhattan.
