Adam Schefter discusses problem with Raiders' Maxx Crosby trade

Fans of the Las Vegas Raiders are no strangers to the buzz around Maxx Crosby in trade discussions.

Back in March, there were talks about a trade that would send the standout edge rusher to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two first-round picks. However, the Ravens ultimately decided against it, citing concerns about Crosby’s health.

Now, with the NFL trade deadline drawing near, Crosby’s name has come up again in trade whispers.

On “The Pat McAfee Show,” ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared insights on why a trade involving Crosby seems unlikely. He noted that, “Maxx Crosby, the issue there is he means so much to that franchise. He was the one that was forcing the issue in the offseason; he was the one that wanted to be traded. Initially, the Raiders balked, and then they found two [first-round picks]. And I don’t think they’re getting that back now.”

He continued, emphasizing Crosby’s talent, stating, “He’s an unbelievable player. I don’t think they’re getting two [first-round picks], and so maybe it just makes sense to hold on to him.” With the Raiders currently standing at 3-4, Schefter argued that it would be unwise to let go of such a pivotal player. “You don’t want to sell off the heart and soul of your team, the face of your franchise. You don’t want to do that. And I don’t know anybody would give up enough to make it happen… The trade talks surrounding Maxx Crosby have lost a little bit of steam,” he concluded.

Indeed, Schefter’s perspective on Crosby’s significance to both the Raiders and their supporters is spot on.

One can only imagine the backlash from fans if Crosby were to be traded mid-season, especially since Las Vegas still has a competitive record.

So, for now, it seems that Raiders fans can breathe a sigh of relief regarding any imminent trades involving Crosby.
