Justin Bateman, a former sitcom star, criticized the mayors of Chicago and Los Angeles for prioritizing media appearances over their responsibilities to govern effectively.
His remarks came in response to a video shared by LA’s Mayor Karen Bass, which also included Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson. Both mayors expressed concern about what they described as “fear” spreading in their cities, among other criticisms. Bateman expressed his frustration, stating on social media, “For God’s love, can you just do your job?”
He questioned, “Can I attend the city of Los Angeles?” adding, “What are you doing on national news programs?”
Bateman continued, “Unless you’re running for president, we don’t see the point. Use your time to address city issues—like filling our potholes, managing crime, ensuring water supplies for fire emergencies, and repairing offline fire trucks.”
He concluded with, “There’s no limit to how you should be using your time, @mayorofla.”
Bateman has also voiced his discontent with Democratic leadership, particularly during the COVID crisis. Earlier this year, he noted that Californians are experiencing the fallout from electing Democrats, highlighting issues like the fires in the Los Angeles area.
“Running a city or state means addressing the basics,” he told Fox News. “That includes adequately funding fire and police departments, planning for predictable emergencies, and preparing for disasters such as fires and earthquakes. If you can’t handle these fundamental responsibilities, you’re failing us!”
He added, “If you can’t even manage the essentials, you should leave our city! You’re a liability, and your failures have harmed lives because you neglected your duties. You haven’t fulfilled what you were hired for, and it’s time you take responsibility and resign.”
