Adrian Wojnarowski addresses spat with Barstool’s Rico Bosco

One of sports media’s longest running feuds appears to have been settled.

Rico Bosco, a Barstool Sports personality in his late 30s whose real name is Terrence Mayrose, is responding to a direct message that ESPN’s NBA star reporter Adrian Wojnarowski sent him about current Union University head coach Danny Hurley. I’ve been holding a grudge for over 10 years.

On this week’s “Pardon My Take,” Wojnarowski issued something of a public apology after co-host Dan Katz and a PFT commenter brought up the situation.

“I’m sorry that Danny Hurley left Wagner,” Wojnarowski said with a laugh.

“And he didn’t stay in the Northeast Conference, where he would have reigned supreme. He could have won a national championship at Wagner.”

The story began in late 2011 when Hurley was coaching Wagner, and Bosco, a Staten Island native, was pleased with their success.

After Wagner stunned a nationally ranked Pittsburgh team, Bosco tweeted (deleted) how much he enjoyed being with Hurley and that it would be bittersweet to see him move on to bigger and better things. (on my previous account).

That’s when Wojnarowski, then working for Yahoo and well on his way to becoming a titan in the NBA scoop world, slipped into Bosko’s DMs.

“I know him well,” Wojnarowski wrote.

“He has no plans to leave New Jersey.” [where he lived], I promise you. He was in HS for 9 years and turned down many of his jobs. I’m right. ”

That offseason, Hurley left Wagner and headed to Rhode Island.

Bosco, a stubborn man who, like professional wrestlers of old, couldn’t tell the difference between a real person and character performance art, continued to demand a public apology from Wojnarowski for the next 12 years.

Bosco He approached Wojnarowski at last year’s Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden. And I confronted him about it.

In the exchange, Bosco said Wojnarowski acknowledged he was wrong about Harley but refused to publicly apologize for the private messages.

“He learned a lot from that part,” Wojnarowski said of Bosko on this week’s “Pardon My Take.”
