All Elite Wrestling finally aired backstage footage of CM Punk and Jack Perry’s altercation at All In last summer, showing the current WWE stars starting to physically hook up in the scrap.
This one-minute video was released on Dynamite Wednesday in a dynasty pay-per-match between The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) and Punk’s close friends FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler). It was aired as part of the tag team title match storyline. See you next Sunday.
The footage, without sound, shows Perry standing in the backstage area after the pre-show match at Wembley Stadium on August 27, with Perry previously suffering a puncture during a recent “crash.” was referring to using “real glass” to hit Perry. Show it to me and say, “Cry in the river.”
Punk, whose match against Samoa Joe was scheduled to kick off the next main card, closed in on Perry with a shot from the bottom right corner.
The two conversed for about 30 seconds, and at one point Punk glanced back to his right before the verbal exchange got even more heated.
As Perry, son of “Beverly Hills, 90210” star Luke Perry, was still talking, Punk first shoved him and then lunged at him again, before Joe intervened and separated the two. It appeared to grab Perry.
An angry Punk then moves toward the area where Tony Khan is sitting and is seen yelling at the AEW president, who says he felt physically threatened, while being restrained by Jerry Lynn and Malachi Black. It was done.
Punk was fired by AEW for cause on September 2nd after getting into backstage altercations with him and The Elite after All Out 2021.
He returned to WWE after nearly a decade away at November’s Survivor Series.
In response to the release of the tape, Punk posted a photo of former President George W. Bush declaring “mission accomplished” after the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
He gave his side of what happened at All In in an interview with Ariel Helwani last week.
“I walked up to him and thought, ‘Jack, why would you put this shitty Internet show on TV?'” Punk told Helwani. “He’s like, if you have a problem, do something about it.” I was like, “Come on.” You can kill me. what are we doing?
“I thought I was doing the responsible thing. I didn’t hit anyone. I just kind of choked someone. Samoa Joe was there and told me to stop. I quit. I turned to Tony and said, “We’re kidding here.” You’re a clown. I quit. ‘I went to my room and Joe and Jerry Lynn came and grabbed me and were like, ‘Let’s go out and kill them.’ ”
Punk had a match with Joe and won in his last match with AEW.
AEW also likely released this footage to create a storyline angle that would bring Perry back to television for the first time since his suspension for the All In incident.
