Melania Trump Feature Film Opens Strong

The documentary film Melania, focusing on the former First Lady, received a remarkable response during its opening weekend. This initial success led the studio to expand screenings into over 200 additional theaters across various cities. Studio representatives acknowledged this development as a significant boost for the film.

“All of Melania Trump’s hard work is paying off,” a senior adviser to her noted. Producer Mark Beckman emphasized the film’s success to Breitbart News, stating, “We have achieved the highest opening weekend gross for a documentary in 14 years and are rapidly increasing our theater count nationwide.” He added that this accomplishment reflects Melania Trump’s dedication to producing quality content for audiences.

From Friday to Sunday, the film earned approximately $7 million, outperforming expectations for a documentary. According to John Nolte from Breitbart, it has already topped the box office figures of several Academy Award-nominated films from 2025.

Beckman also expressed enthusiasm regarding the potential for further ticket sales following the initial weekend. He mentioned plans to expand into nearly 200 more theaters, bringing the total to nearly 2,000 across the U.S.

New screenings will occur in markets that included, but are not limited to, Dallas, Orlando, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Philadelphia, and even some liberal strongholds like New York City and Chicago.

“This showcases classic storytelling led by the First Lady of the United States,” Beckman continued, echoing sentiments shared by director Brett Ratner. Ratner commended Melania’s vision for the film, specifying her intent for theatrical release, which is quite uncommon for documentaries.

Despite pushback from some within the entertainment industry, the film received positive reactions from audiences, achieving high viewer ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Interestingly, critics don’t see eye to eye on the film’s reception, with many providing substantially lower ratings.
