After Biden Passed the Torch I Called My Pastor — ‘I Needed to Talk to God’

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, said Tuesday on ABC's “The View” that she “needed to talk to God” after President Joe Biden told her by phone that he was withdrawing from the presidential race and supporting her. He said he called the pastor.

Whoopi Goldberg said, “So, when this phone call comes in, you know who's calling and what he said.”

Harris said. “Well, let me set the stage for you. So, it was Sunday and our family, my niece, her husband, and two daughters were staying with us. I promised them that Sunday Auntie would make pancakes and bacon, and we would have a great time. Around that time, my children, ages 6 and 8, woke up early. They're the first to wake up. They come knocking on the door and I have some quiet time in the morning with just me and the girls. So I go to work out and go on a cooking show. They were playing while I was working out. We were working on a puzzle while we were having breakfast. I got more bacon, and we had a puzzle, so I went back to working on it. I'm still in my workout clothes, doing puzzles and ringing the phone. So my aunt said I'll be right back. And it was the president. The first thing I asked him was, 'Are you sure?' It was a historic decision. We talked about it for a while.”

She further added: “I'll be honest with you, one of the first people I called was a pastor. I mean, I needed to talk to God. You know, pray.”
