After Iowa, No GOP Challengers Can Put Trump ‘On the Ropes’

Even though former President Donald Trump’s strong first-place finish in the Iowa caucus solidified his spot as the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination, the move by two other hopefuls to continue their primary campaigns in New Hampshire may signal they have an alternative motive than simply seeking the White House, political strategists say.

Trump nabbed a record-setting win, securing 51% of the vote in Iowa. The result left his closest opponents trailing far behind him. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis placed a distant second with 21%, just edging out former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, whose 19% largely exceeded expectations.
