Mr. Bondi clashed with Democratic senators as he faced intense questioning over whether to prosecute Mr. Trump's political opponents.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) previously floated the now-debunked “Russian collusion” theory during the 2016 campaign, but Bondy is now known as Special Counsel Jack Smith. and questioned whether to prosecute former Congresswoman Liz Cheney.

Cheney is accused of witness tampering during a Jan. 6 committee appearance, and there is compelling evidence that Trump previously highlighted on Truth Social.

“We're not having any discussion about Liz Cheney,” Bondi responded, pushing back on Schiff's own failures while describing the question as a “hypothetical.”

“You know what we should be concerned about, California's crime rate is extraordinarily high. Your robbery rate is 87 percent higher than the national average,” she pointed out.

President Trump accused Cheney and Smith of “political prosecution” for allegedly destroying evidence and tampering with evidence and witnesses related to the investigation.

“A deranged Jack Smith is unable to successfully prosecute the political opponents of his 'boss', Crooked Joe Biden, and ends up having an unelected committee of political hacks and thugs illegally destroyed and removed.” I ended up writing yet another “report'' based on the information I received. He was innocent and showed how completely guilty Nancy Pelosi and others are. Jack is a dumb prosecutor who can't even try his own case before an election that I won by a landslide. I did. Voters spoke!!!,” Trump wrote in a post on Monday Truth Social.

Bondi went on to explain that he would not order investigations based solely on political feuds, which appears to be the very practice the Justice Department under the Biden administration has been accused of doing.

“No one is going to be indicted or investigated just because they are a political opponent. That's what we've seen over the last four years of this administration. They'll be fairly prosecuted based on the facts and the law,” she said. said.

“All cases are handled on a case-by-case basis. No one should be prosecuted for political purposes.”

Questioning of Bondi by the Senate Judiciary Committee continued, focusing on Bondi's intentions to go after Trump's political opponents.

Mr. Bondi was repeatedly interrupted throughout the hearing.

At one point, the Florida-based nominee defended his nomination of Trump ally and former Justice Department federal prosecutor Kash Patel to head the FBI. Patel has raised eyebrows among bureaucrats and officials in Washington, D.C., for his book titled “Government Gangsters: The Deep State, Truth, and the Fight for Democracy.” In his book, he calls for a “comprehensive housecleaning” of the Justice Department, along with an exhaustive list of people involved in the “deep state.”

Bondi responded to a question about Patel's reported list, expressing support for Patel but adding that there was never an “enemies list” within the Justice Department.

“Senator, just to get straight to the point, you're obviously talking about Kash Patel. I don't think he has an enemy list. He said this on TV, and I heard No…but I know that Kash Patel has had 60 jury trials as a public defender and as a prosecutor. He has great experience in the intelligence community and the Department of Defense. ” she added.
